The new operation will be located at Roosevelt General Hospital and provide lifesaving care to residents in emergency situations.
AeroCare announced today its plans to open an air medical base in Roosevelt County during the second quarter of this year. The new base will be located at Roosevelt General Hospital (RGH) in Portales, NM and will provide air transport services to Roosevelt County and the surrounding regions.

“We are incredibly proud to be joining the community of Portales,” said Bobby Sanchez, regional director for AeroCare parent company Med-Trans Corporation. “We look forward to strengthening our service in Eastern New Mexico and West Texas and providing local hospitals, fire departments and EMS agencies with a dependable partner in patient care.”

Having the new air medical base will mean expedited care for patients whose conditions are too critical to go by ground ambulance.

“Roosevelt General Hospital (RGH) is thrilled to partner with AeroCare and re-establish an air medical transport base in Portales,” said Kaye Green, RGH chief executive officer. “The ability to get patients to the right level of care as quickly as possible is essential in rural healthcare, and we are most appreciative of our new partnership and increased collaboration with AeroCare to better serve our community.”

The Portales base will be staffed by highly trained and experienced pilots, flight nurses and flight paramedics, and it will be maintained by an on-site aviation maintenance technician. The Bell 407 helicopter operated at this base will be medically configured with the latest avionics and safety features.

AeroCare is a participating provider in the AirMedCare Network (AMCN), the nation’s largest air medical transport membership program with more than 320 air medical locations across 38 states.
