New Air Medical Operation to Serve Community of Hobbs and Surrounding Regions
AeroCare, a Global Medical Response (GMR) company, has opened a new air medical base located at Covenant Health Hobbs Hospital in Hobbs, New Mexico. The base, operating a Bell 407 helicopter, will serve several communities throughout Lea County, Eastern New Mexico and parts of West Texas.
“We have looked forward to opening the doors to our new base in Hobbs for some time now, and all of us at AeroCare, Med-Trans and Global Medical Response are proud to share this new operation with the community and our patients,” said Kimberly Montgomery, COO of AeroCare parent company Med-Trans Corporation. “We are so grateful to work alongside our partners in care at Covenant Health Hobbs Hospital to deliver high-quality care and exceptional patient experience.”
The Hobbs base is staffed by highly trained and experienced pilots, flight nurses, and flight paramedics, and is maintained by on-site aviation maintenance technicians. The Bell 407 operated as this base is medically configured, equipped with the latest avionics and safety features and will carry whole blood products for trauma patients suffering from severe blood loss.
“Covenant Health System has a long-standing relationship with AeroCare, and we are very pleased to now have them as our air ambulance provider in Hobbs,” said Dan Springer, CEO of Covenant Health Hobbs Hospital. “They are a great partner in providing high-quality care to our community in the times it is needed most. Even as we grow and build our availability of providers and services here at Covenant Health Hobbs, there will always be some services that are only provided at more highly specialized hospitals, like Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. Being able to have quick service and state of the art equipment available for those transportation needs is critical.”
This is the ninth air medical operation for AeroCare in East New Mexico and West Texas. The company also operates in nearby Lovington, Seminole, Clovis, Odessa, Fort Stockton, Lubbock and Plainview. The proximity of these bases allows for additional air transport coverage in the community when an asset is already in service on another call.
AeroCare is a participating provider in the AirMedCare Network (AMCN), the nation’s largest air medical transport membership program with more than 320 air medical locations across 38 states. Members flown for a life- or limb-threatening injury or illness by an AMCN participating provider have no out-of-pocket costs for the flight. Whatever the member’s insurance – or third-party insurance – pays is considered payment in full. Annual memberships start at $65.
