Located at Roosevelt General Hospital (RGH) in Portales, New Mexico, the base provides air medical transport services to Roosevelt County and the surrounding regions.
Today AeroCare announced that its newest air medical base located in Roosevelt County is now in service. Located at Roosevelt General Hospital (RGH) in Portales, NM, the base provides air medical transport services to Roosevelt County and the surrounding regions.
“We are incredibly proud to be joining the community of Portales,” said Bobby Sanchez, regional director for AeroCare. “Currently AeroCare will operate out of a building provided by our hospital partners at RGH, but our permanent facility should be operational in approximately one month. We look forward to strengthening our service in Eastern New Mexico and West Texas and providing local hospitals, fire departments and EMS agencies with a dependable partner in patient care.”
Having the new air medical base means expedited care for patients whose conditions are too critical to go by ground ambulance.
“Time is a critical factor when treating emergent conditions or trauma victims and having AeroCare on our hospital campus allow us to offer the best positive medical outcome possible,” said Kaye Green, CEO of Roosevelt General Hospital.
The Portales base is staffed by highly trained and experienced pilots, flight nurses and flight paramedics and is maintained by an on-site aviation maintenance technician. The Bell 407 helicopter operated at this base is medically configured with the latest avionics and safety features.
AeroCare is a participating provider in the AirMedCare Network (AMCN), the nation’s largest air medical transport membership program with more than 320 air medical locations across 38 states. Members have no out-of-pocket costs for the flight only if flown by an AMCN participating provider for a life-or limb-threatening injury or illness. Whatever the member’s insurance or third-party insurance pays is considered payment in full. Annual memberships start at $99.
