Wesley Medical Center to Launch Internal Ambulance Transport Service

2.10.2022

The service will feature three ambulances, staffed by eight paramedics and eight EMTs in Wichita, Kansas.

Wesley Healthcare announced today that beginning March 1, it will launch an ambulance service to provide internal patient transfers to Wesley Medical Center from Wesley Woodlawn Hospital & ER, Wesley West ER and Wesley Derby ER. Operating under Wesley Medical Center’s license, the service will be staffed and managed by American Medical Response (AMR).

“This service will make the internal transportation of patients between Wesley facilities a more seamless process,” Bill Voloch, Wesley Healthcare CEO, said. “It will also provide greater continuity of care for our patients overall.”

The service will feature three ambulances, staffed by eight paramedics and eight EMTs. All three ambulances will be fully staffed during the day, and one will be operational 24 hours a day. Craig Isom, program director for AMR, said the 24-hour ambulance will be based at Wesley Woodlawn Hospital.

“The other two ambulances will transport patients during peak usage hours, and will be based at Wesley West ER and Wesley Derby ER,” Isom said.

Wesley facilities average 5,000 inter-facility transports each year, and Isom said AMR is proud to partner with Wesley Medical Center to provide compassionate, quality ambulance service for patients.

Isom added AMR is currently accepting applications for paramedics to help support Wesley’s new service.
“AMR provides competitive benefits packages that include health insurance, disability insurance and retirement plans with a company match,” he said. “The company also offers paid time off, holiday pay and tuition reimbursement. New employees are also eligible for career and leadership development programs and several voluntary benefits packages including banking, legal, auto, home, accident and more.”
