Governor Jim Justice attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Air Evac Lifeteam base grand opening on Thursday.

Air Evac Lifeteam has been in the Summersville and Mount Nebo communities since 2011, with partner operations in Beckley and Logan County. Air Evac Lifeteam provides essential medical first responders to West Virginia communities. Gov. Justice gave remarks at the event.

“The role that first responders, like Air Evac Lifeteam flight nurses, pilots, and paramedics provide to West Virginians is incredibly important,” Gov. Justice said. “That’s why today’s grand opening of Air Evac Lifeteam’s new air ambulance base in Mount Nebo is so important. Every time you hear the sound of one of their helicopters overhead, please pray for those onboard. And remember to give thanks for the brave men and women who are willing and able to come to our rescue.”

The new 1,800 square foot base will provide a hangar and working space for the Bell 206 aircraft and the paramedics, flight nurses, pilots and support staff who operate and maintain the aircraft. Air Evac Lifeteam emergency medical first responders and staff also assist with the West Virginia Critical Care Program, which is required to fly in the state. The base is located at 139 Summersville Lake Road, Mount Nebo, WV 26679.

“We’re delighted to open this operation in our new, expanded space in Mount Nebo. This will give us the operational support for us to continue to provide emergency medical response for the community here, in Summersville and across the region,” Christopher Eades, senior program director for West Virginia
Air Evac Lifeteam, said. “While we’re opening this new location, we’re also looking for dedicated people who can join our team of nurses, pilots and paramedics.”
