AMR Earns Prestigious CAAS Reacreditation

An independent review validates that accredited agencies adhere to the highest standards in the industry.
American Medical Response (AMR) is proud to announce its reaccreditation with the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS). The EMS provider earned reaccreditation in its Orlando and Sumter County, Fla., operations.
Ed Badamo, Regional Director for AMR, said CAAS accreditation is designed to help EMS agencies increase organizational performance and efficiency, increase clinical quality, and decrease risk and liability. Accreditation provides a template for making comprehensive organization changes that improve the overall performance of the organization. An independent review validates that accredited agencies adhere to the highest standards in the industry.
AMR provides interfacility transport and 911 service to Orlando and Sumter County residents and visitors. The Orlando operation was first accredited in 1993, and the Sumter County operation was first accredited in 2013. The teams began working on the reaccreditation application about a year before it expired. CAAS accreditation shows dedication to quality and affirms that organizations are upholding the highest standards in areas such as patient care, quality improvement, financial management, and public relations.
“AMR in Orlando and Sumter County are two of only 180 services in the country to be successful in the voluntary review process,” Badamo said. “We are extremely proud of our teams and the work they put in each day to provide care for our communities at a moment’s notice.”
The operations applied jointly and demonstrated perfect scores in all 109 categories, Badamo added. “The reviewers who evaluated us came from across the country, and many operate their own transport services. They were thoroughly impressed with our resilience over the last couple of years.”
