The operation was awarded the recognition for its unwavering dedication to serving the residents of the county with top-tier emergency medical care.
American Medical Response Pueblo (AMR) is proud to announce that it has been named EMS Ambulance Service of the Year by the Emergency Medical Services Association of Colorado. This prestigious accolade reflects AMR’s unwavering dedication to serving the residents of the county with top-tier emergency medical care.
“It is an honor and privilege to accept this award on behalf of our first responders who come to work each day to serve the citizens of Pueblo,” said Operations Manager Mike Lening.
The recognition garnered strong praise and endorsements from key community leaders. Pueblo Mayor Heather Graham and Fire Chief Barb Huber expressed their support through nomination letters, emphasizing the trust and value AMR brings to the community. Dr. Michael Mandrell, Regional Medical Director for the Southern Colorado Regional Emergency and Trauma Advisory Council, reinforced this sentiment in a third endorsement letter, highlighting AMR’s advanced capabilities: “The Colorado Department of Health has recognized AMR Pueblo’s commitment to excellence by granting special permissions for advanced, life-saving procedures that go beyond the typical paramedic scope in Colorado. These include sophisticated intubation techniques and specialized respiratory interventions that significantly enhance patient outcomes during pre-hospital care.”
AMR’s commitment to public safety extends beyond emergency response. The organization supports high-profile community events, such as the Colorado State Fair, by providing complimentary standby medical services. Their flagship public safety initiative, AMR Safety Jam, exemplifies their dedication to community education. What began as a small local event has evolved into a nationally recognized program, drawing over 3,500 attendees and engaging more than 60 local and regional partners. The event unites first responders, hospitals, fire and police departments, and public utilities to deliver engaging and essential safety education.
The EMS Ambulance Service of the Year award presented at a weekend ceremony in Keystone, Colorado. Reflecting on the honor, Lening added, "We are humbled by this recognition and remain steadfast in our commitment to provide the highest level of emergency medical services to the communities we serve.”
