One-year-old resident of Children’s Sub-Acute Center in San Bernardino, CA spends Christmas with family through AMR's Home for the Holidays program.
An American Medical Response (AMR) San Bernardino County Critical Care Transport team was proud to give joy to a special family on Christmas Day through the Home for the Holiday’s initiative. AMR’s Home for the Holiday’s program offers round-trip complimentary transportation with medical supervision to a few special patients each December, enabling them to spend cherished time with their loved ones during the holiday season.

Dwayne Cherry, a 1-year-old patient residing at Children’s Sub-Acute Center at Community Hospital of San Bernardino, required assistance and care that would have otherwise prevented a family visit at home. On Christmas Day, AMR San Bernardino County provided round-trip transportation with medical supervision, allowing Dwayne to enjoy a few hours at home with his family Christmas morning.

“We are deeply grateful to AMR for making this possible,” said Vanessa Romero, Dwayne’s mother. “The AMR Critical Care Transport team was wonderful, and everything went smoothly. We appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts.”

The transportation team included respiratory therapist Ramon Paez, EMT Jacob Miller and EMT Samantha Mia, who ensured Dwayne’s safety, care and comfort throughout the visit.

The Home for the Holiday’s program is dedicated to providing patients like Dwayne the opportunity to spend meaningful time with family and friends during the holidays. AMR would like to thank Dwayne’s physician and care team at Children’s Sub-Acute Center for helping to make this Christmas miracle occur. It was an honor and a joy for the AMR team to facilitate this special day for Dwayne’s family.
