Francine made landfall as a Category 2 hurricane on the Louisiana coast on September 11, and continues as a tropical depression on a north-easterly course.
Global Medical Response (GMR) is deploying hundreds of emergency medical first responders, ambulances and paratransit vehicles to Louisiana to support those impacted by Hurricane Francine. This mobilization is in response to the federal government's request to American Medical Response (AMR) for emergency medical services (EMS) aid as part of its contract with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

“GMR is proud to be the nation’s largest provider of emergency medical services and FEMA’s EMS partner,” said Nick Loporcaro, president and chief executive officer for AMR’s parent company, Global Medical Response. “The opportunity to care for those who need quality, compassionate emergency medical support drives our teams every single day, and we are proud to have this opportunity to do the same for communities working to bounce back from Hurricane Francine.”

Upon arrival, GMR teams will provide services as directed. All deployed teams are continuously monitored and dispatched via GMR’s National Command Center (NATCOM), located in Lewisville, and will remain activated in impacted areas for as long as GMR’s assistance is required.

“As emergency medical professionals, we’re wired to respond in times of disaster and trauma,” said Ted Van Horne, chief operating officer for Global Medical Response. “GMR has worked hard to develop logistics capabilities and innovative technologies to support our first responders and help us identify and locate the people who urgently need our care. While we hope to never need these resources, we are honored to deploy them in the service of Louisianas impacted by Hurricane Francine.”bulance, paratransit services and non-ambulance EMS personnel to supplement the local, federal and state response to a disaster, an act of terrorism or any public health emergency.
