Hawaii Life Flight Brings in Additional Resources to Resume Emergency Air Operations

Governor Green signs emergency proclamation to ensure Hawaiian communities and patients have necessary medical transport services.
Officials with Hawaii Life Flight announced it is increasing island support in Maui starting today. While air medical services were immediately available thru the medivac helicopter on Maui yesterday, HLF officials shared news about additional medical aircraft services available beginning at 14:00 HST today.
Hawaii Life Flight has increased its air medical support to ensure communities and patients have the necessary medical transport services. Officials said we have worked closely with our sister companies as well as state, local and industry officials to ensure a continuation of this critical level of service remains. As part of the Global Medical Response family, Hawaii Life Flight has been and will continue to receive operational support from its sister companies, including the GMR medical helicopter based in Maui.
The emergency proclamation made by Governor Green on December 15 enables additional air medical teams to be placed into service today from AirMed International and REACH Air Medical Services. In addition to staffing multiple helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft from GMR companies, GMR clinicians will be staffing two Black Hawk helicopters operated by the state.
GMR has also partnered with Emergency AirLift based in Klamath Falls, Ore., to augment air medical support to serve the communities of Hawaii during this time. These teams will provide inter-island and long-distance air medical transport services while search and rescue efforts continue for the missing Hawaii Life Flight crew and aircraft.
As part of standard protocol during air incidents, the company has placed all Hawaii Life Flight aircraft and crews on a safety standdown so that precautionary maintenance checks can be performed on all similar aircraft and so that all crewmembers can focus on their mental well-being during this difficult time.
Hawaii Life Flight extends its deepest gratitude to the U.S. Coast Guard, Governor Green, Emergency AirLift and the community for their assistance and continued support during this difficult time.
As the search continues, we ask that you continue to keep our three crew members and their families in your prayers.
