Request a Medical Aircraft by the Touch of a Button; Guardian Flight Launches Innovative New Service in Alaska

The RapidCall Voice Activation Button allows healthcare providers to initiate flight requests with the touch of a button.
Guardian Flight today announced that its air medical operations in Alaska have implemented an innovative new technology that allows healthcare providers to request an air medical aircraft by pressing a button.

The RapidCall Voice Activation Button allows healthcare providers to initiate flight requests with the touch of a button. Automated voice prompts inform users which aircraft has been dispatched and provide an ETA. The prompts also provide an alert when the aircraft lifts off and status updates every five minutes while en route.

“In emergencies, every moment counts,” said Jared Sherman, vice president of operations for Guardian Flight. “The innovative technology behind the RapidCall Button saves valuable minutes, especially for patients receiving treatment at rural healthcare facilities that operate with a limited number of healthcare providers.”

Guardian Flight launched the new technology for its fixed-wing aircraft, along with its online ordering system, at Camai Community Health Center in Naknek, Alaska, last month.

“The RapidCall has been a great asset to our facility,” said La Wanda Pulley, family nurse practitioner for Camai Community Health Center. “With limited resources, it provides timely transfers for patients needing higher-level treatment.”

By the end of the year, Guardian Flight and its parent company, Global Medical Response, anticipate more than a dozen other healthcare facilities in the lower 48 states to go live with the new RapidCall Button for both fixed-wing and helicopter transports.
