Kari Spanarella

Fire Training Officer

Kari Spanarella began her journey in EMS over 20 years ago after going on a ride-along with a local fire department. Starting as a firefighter/EMT, Kari went on to become a paramedic and pursued additional education with an associate degree sponsored by Rural Metro Fire Department (RMFD). Kari's exceptional leadership and expertise in the field were recognized, leading to promotions to EMS captain and later to her current role as fire training captain.

Kari's impact extends beyond her own career, as she serves as an instructor for several disciplines in EMS and Fire and has even had the opportunity to run an in-house transitional fire academy. Her dedication to positively impacting the lives of others and her community is remarkable, as seen through her role as the Southern Arizona's CISM peer support team lead and a wellness officer.

Kari's years of experience in EMS have taught her to always prioritize showing compassion and dignity in all of her interactions. For those interested in a career in EMS with GMR, Kari advises taking advantage of all the incredible growth opportunities available, reminding us that the only limit within GMR is oneself.

“At GMR, your potential for advancement is unlimited and depends solely on your own abilities and aspirations.” Kari Spanarella
