Lifeguard’s primary Blount County operation will be in Oneonta, with substations in Cleveland and Hayden.
Lifeguard Ambulance Service has opened its new operations in Blount County. Lifeguard employs more than 1,150 dedicated caregivers across eight states with its headquarters in Birmingham. The expansion locally furthers Lifeguard’s commitment to Alabama communities.

With this opening, Lifeguard’s primary Blount County operation will be in Oneonta, with substations in Cleveland and Hayden. Staffing includes 50 EMTs, paramedics and other support staff who will deploy up to five ambulances each day at a moment’s notice. This operation complements the existing operations in adjacent Morgan and Jefferson counties. The operation opened Sept. 30.

“The opening of our Blount County operation means we will have better service for the local community,” said Joshua Spencer, regional director for Global Medical Response. “We will also have an increased footprint in the region, including air support from our partner operations such as Air Evac Lifeteam.”

In addition to an increased presence through operations, Lifeguard will also bring programs for recruiting and training.

“We’re excited to deepen our connections in Blount County and in Alabama overall,” Spencer said. “Our EMTs and paramedics are from this area and serve the citizens of the community. We’re also offering recruitment and education opportunities with our Earn While You Learn Program, which trains staff to become paramedics while they earn a paycheck from us.”
