America's rural ambulance services are fighting for their survival, a crisis hastened by the impact of COVID-19. Overall, access to healthcare in rural areas is becoming a critical issue in the U.S. Since 2010, 106 of America’s 1,700 rural hospitals closed, expanding the medical desert that is growing across the country.
